the goals of summer '14

2012's Annecy-bound crew of UArts students.
La Rencontre Animée was on hiatus last year due to lack of funds, but we hope to assemble a crew for summer '14 and find financial support via donors and grants.

This year, 2014, we aim to travel to Angoulême, France, to l'Ecole Européene Supérieure de l'Image (EESI), where professor Claire Fouquet teaches animation and where our two schools crafted an exchange agreement for students and faculty as the result of my sabbatical teacher-swap with Claire in 2009. The format of this year's workshop is a new one - we will not try for a complete film but rather spend the first week making observational notes and drawing sketches as well as collecting material for creating other artwork. The second week of the workshop will be devoted to organizing these things into an exhibition at EESI that treats the theme of cultural difference via reflection observation.

We hope to leave for Paris in June and attend the Annecy International Festival of Animation during the second week of that month.
